{"id":59374,"date":"2026-06-09T20:32:01","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T12:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=59374"},"modified":"2026-06-09T20:32:01","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T12:32:01","slug":"final-group-of-singaporean-haj-pilgrims-returns-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=59374","title":{"rendered":"Final group of Singaporean haj pilgrims returns home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 <!-- -->The final group of about 300 Singaporean Muslim haj pilgrims arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 3 on June 8, marking the safe return of all pilgrims from the Republic who had made the trip to Saudi Arabia this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Faishal Ibrahim, who joined families gathered at the airport, said: \u201cWe are glad to welcome them back and to see many families reunited with their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cFor many, this was a journey they had waited years for. I was heartened to see their patience, resilience and care for one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He was joined by the senior management of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS).<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">As Singapore\u2019s Head of Delegation, Faishal visited pilgrims at key stages of their haj journey in Mecca, MUIS said in a statement on June 8.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He also engaged with Saudi authorities and fellow heads of delegation at the Grand Hajj Symposium in Jeddah, it added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Faishal said: \u201cI thank the Government of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for coordinating Haj for more than 1.5 million pilgrims from around the world, including Singapore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Singapore Pilgrims\u2019 Affairs Office (SPAO) worked closely with service providers, the medical team and appointed travel agents to coordinate support and care for pilgrims throughout their stay in the Saudi Arabian cities of Mecca and Medina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">MUIS expressed its appreciation to the Saudi authorities, service providers, travel agents and partners on the ground \u201cfor their support and dedication throughout the season\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cTheir collective efforts ensured that Singapore\u2019s pilgrims were cared for at every stage of their pilgrimage,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">It added that, together with SPAO, it will continue to work with the Association of Muslim Travel Agents Singapore and appointed travel agents to review 2026\u2019s operations, as well as gather feedback from pilgrims to identify improvements for future seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">For the completion of the 2026 haj season, MUIS organised three coordinated direct flights between Saudi Arabia and Singapore for its 900 pilgrims. The first group of Singaporean haj pilgrims<a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/first-group-of-singaporean-haj-pilgrims-return?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\"> returned home on June 1<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The haj is the fifth pillar of Islam and takes place annually during the Islamic month of Zulhijjah.
