SINGAPORE \u2013 The luxury yacht which caught fire at the ONE\u00b015 Marina Club in Sentosa Cove on the morning of June 7 has sunk partially.<\/p>\n
In images captured by The Straits Times at about 2pm, around six hours after smoke was first reported from the vessel, most of the yacht was submerged under water. <\/p>\n
The seawater in the cove is black, with debris floating on the surface.<\/p>\n Charred bits from the aftermath of the fire is seen floating on the surface of the water.<\/p>\n ST PHOTO: AZMI ATHNI<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that it was alerted at about 8.10am to a fire involving a yacht that was engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n SCDF\u2019s land-based resources arrived at the scene in seven minutes and immediately deployed a water jet from a pontoon to fight the fire, it said.<\/p>\n But during the initial firefighting effort, the yacht started drifting away from the pontoon, leading SCDF to activate its marine vessel for support.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the height of the firefighting operation, two water jets from the pontoon and one water monitor from the SCDF Marine Vessel were deployed,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n There are no reported injuries, SCDF confirmed.<\/p>\n An SCDF vessel was also deployed as part of the operation.<\/p>\n ST PHOTO: AZMI ATHNI<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n In response to queries from ST, ONE\u00b015 Marina Club\u2019s management said smoke was detected from a vessel berthed at its premises at about 8am.\u00a0<\/p>\n The on-site emergency response team was activated and the SCDF was called, the spokesman said.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are no reported injuries at this time, and we are working with the authorities to bring the situation under control,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n SCDF firefighters deploying a water jet from a pontoon\u00a0at the ONE\u00b015 Marina Club to fight a fire on a yacht on the morning of June 7.<\/p>\n PHOTO: SINGAPORE CIVIL DEFENCE FORCE\/FACEBOOK<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n In a reader\u2019s photo shared with ST, thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the berthed vessel. Other boats nearby seem to be unaffected.<\/p>\n According to CNA, the boat is identified as Eagle Wings III, a 33.8m superyacht.<\/p>\n The boat can cater to around 50 guests and boasts a dining area and jacuzzi, according to charter listings.
