Geralt of Rivia may have made his name on killing monsters. His successor is<\/em> a monster. That much is clear in the latest trailer for The<\/em> <\/em>Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em>, revealed by developer Rebel Wolves during the 2026 Summer Game Fest showcase.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em> is an open-world action RPG set in a dark-fantasy version of 14th-century Europe. You play as a be-man-bunned dude named Coen, who’s adept with Medieval weaponry and appears to spend much of his time fighting malevolent creatures. If that sounds a lot like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em>, Rebel Wolves is notably comprised of ex-Witcher developers.<\/p>\n

The Summer Game Fest trailer showed Coen’s initial infection \u2014 seemingly by Temu Knight King \u2014 followed by shots of Coen himself attacking regular humans. Gotta feed the beast. Coen then gets up to all sorts of vampire hijinks, including running across rooftops, teleporting short distances (let’s hear it for Blink), exploding walking human husks with his mind, and sword-fighting a giant alligator…slug…thing.<\/p>\n

The Witcher developers are still exploring the line between man and monster<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Rebel Wolves suggested the open-world vampire series will continue beyond September’s Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em>. A second Summer Game Fest trailer showed Coen in the present day, slouched in a chair, exhausted, ordering bags of blood much like you’d Seamless some fried rice to your door during a particularly brutal hangover.<\/p>\n

“His journey begins in a dark 14th-century fantasy world \u2013 a setting players deeply enjoy \u2013 and while it may feel familiar, the unique Carpathian Mountains setting will allow us to surprise them more than once,” narrative director Jakub Szama\u0142ek said in a press release. “The next installments of his saga will bring new stories and new characters, but they will take place in different eras, locations, and cultures.”<\/p>\n

The Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em> will be released Sept. 3 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
