SINGAPORE \u2013 From June 7, visitors to beachfront adventure park Skypark Sentosa can ride two new slides standing at 44m tall \u2013 each <\/b>roughly the height of a 14-storey building. They are billed <\/b>as South-east Asia\u2019s tallest dry slide attraction.<\/p>\n
Developed through a partnership between travel booking platform Klook and Skypark Sentosa, the new attraction called Skyslides by Klook features a pair of enclosed spiral slides named Skydrop and The Big Klook Slide.<\/p>\n
The dry slides have been built around the park\u2019s existing infrastructure, with both slides intertwining around its bungee tower.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Skydrop is also the world\u2019s tallest land-based drop slide due to its distinct drop-style configuration and ride profile.<\/p>\n
This is based on specifications provided by the attraction manufacturer, together with a review of publicly available information on comparable attractions globally and within the region, according to Skypark Sentosa.<\/p>\n
The U-drop slide \u2013 which describes a type of slide with a falling start mechanism \u2013 features a near-vertical, free-fall drop at the start. When trying the ride at the media preview on June 3, this writer found it thrilling, especially at the initial drop.<\/p>\n
The Big Klook Slide is a more relaxed, family-friendly ride. Riders can personalise both slide rides with six themed options of music and audiovisual elements, such as Disco, Jungle and Space.\u00a0<\/p>\n Skydrop also holds the title of the world\u2019s tallest land-based drop slide, and this writer felt it had a thrilling initial near-vertical drop.<\/p>\n ST PHOTO: SHINTARO TAY<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The themed LED lights and music during the ride add to the sensory experience, and momentarily distract from the weightless sensation of the drop. At different sections of each ride, the lights change in pattern and the music changes in either volume or soundtrack.<\/p>\n Skydrop is completely enclosed by opaque panels, while riders on The Big Klook Slide can enjoy views of Sentosa\u2019s skyline through clear windows.\u00a0<\/p>\n Each slide accommodates one rider at a time and each ride lasts about 30 seconds. Riders will sit in a slide sack, holding onto its straps as they descend.\u00a0<\/p>\n Skyslides by Klook is the latest addition to the park, known for its adrenaline-fuelled activities such as bungee jumping and a giant swing that sends riders whizzing through the air at speeds of up to 120kmh. It is also Klook\u2019s first branded attraction.<\/p>\n The dry slides have been built around the park\u2019s existing infrastructure, with both slides intertwining around its bungee tower.\u00a0<\/p>\n ST PHOTO: SHINTARO TAY<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Zishan Amir, chief executive of ZJ Adventures, the Singapore-based attractions owner and operator behind Skypark Sentosa, says the slides will introduce more inclusivity to the attraction.<\/p>\n \u201cAs visitor expectations evolve, we are seeing a growing demand for attractions that feel more experiential, inclusive and socially engaging \u2013 not just high-energy experiences alone.<\/p>\n \u201cBeyond expanding our attraction mix, the slides also encourage more shared moments among families and friends, creating opportunities for spontaneity, connection and repeat visits,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n The launch comes as Skypark Sentosa reopens after a major refurbishment. Our goal was to ensure the experience feels thoughtful, welcoming, and engaging,\u201d Amir says.<\/p>\n Sarah Wan, Klook\u2019s general manager for Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, says the attraction was designed to appeal to a broad mix of visitors including families, younger travellers, groups of friends, and international tourists.<\/p>\n On how the collaboration took shape, Wan says Klook\u2019s longstanding relationship with Skypark Sentosa laid the groundwork for deeper cooperation.<\/p>\n \u201cSkypark Sentosa has been a valued long-time partner of Klook, and over time, both teams saw an exciting opportunity to create something entirely new together for Singapore\u2019s tourism landscape,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n Klook and Skypark Sentosa were unable to reveal the investment costs involved. They expect annual visits to Skypark Sentosa to grow by 180 per cent, <\/b>compared with 2025\u2019s. Official visitorship for Skypark Sentosa is not publicly disclosed.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tickets for Skyslides by Klook are available through Klook<\/span><\/a> and Skypark Sentosa\u2019s website<\/span><\/a>. Guests can choose between two- and three-ride packages, and can mix and match rides on Skydrop and The Big Klook Slide.<\/p>\n A two-ride package costs $28 and a three-ride package costs $33. To mark the launch, the first 1,000 ticket packages sold will include a complimentary ride video worth $20.\u00a0<\/p>\n Both Skydrop and The Big Klook Slide have minimum height requirements of 140cm and 120cm respectively, and Skydrop has a maximum weight restriction of 130kg.
