I\u2019ve always maintained that the Vision Pro is one of the most interesting and cutting-edge pieces of tech that I\u2019ve reviewed in my nearly 20 years of evaluating tech for a living.<\/p>\n
The idea that you could open, run, and manipulate apps in space, and then interact with them in space, by wearing what\u2019s effectively a large goggle, has always seemed far-fetched and incredulous. So imagine what it must feel like when you put on the Vision Pro for the first time and realise that Apple has pulled it off\u00a0and made\u00a0what I\u2019ve described a reality.\u00a0<\/p>\n Apple\u2019s chief financial officer, Kevan Parekh, talking to students who designed the spatial computing apps.<\/p>\n Photo: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The Vision Pro, therefore, presents us with the opportunity for new types of apps and new ways of visualising information.\u00a0And I\u00a0got\u00a0the opportunity to see this on display during a recent visit to the School of Industrial Design at the National University of Singapore, where they were\u00a0holding\u00a0a special showcase for guests,\u00a0which included\u00a0Apple\u2019s chief financial officer, Kevan Parekh.\u00a0<\/p>\n The school conducts a course called Spatial Computing: Design and Development<\/b>, in which spatial computing is used as part of their curriculum.\u00a0And as part of the course, students are tasked\u00a0to create\u00a0spatial computing apps that could\u00a0possibly\u00a0reimagine or revolutionise the way we live and use design, and two\u00a0apps that stood out to me were MediView and Spatialward,\u00a0because they feel like they could have a big impact on healthcare.\u00a0<\/p>\n MediView lets users visualise ACL tears in whole new way.<\/p>\n Photo: Apple<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n MediView<\/b> is an app designed to help patients\u00a0of\u00a0ACL\u00a0tears\u00a0(anterior cruciate ligament) \u2013 a common and serious injury amongst athletes \u2013 visualise their injury and\u00a0help with\u00a0their rehabilitation.\u00a0With the Vision Pro, users can explore a 3D model of the knee to better understand what an ACL tear actually entails<\/b>.
