A Singapore cosplayer has gone viral after sharing footage from what she believes was an alleged upskirt filming incident during the first day of Nijigen Expo 2026 in Malaysia.<\/p>\n
The Instagram Reel, posted by cosplayer Rimi, has since racked up more than 697,000 views and sparked widespread discussion online.<\/p>\n
According to Rimi, the incident occurred while she was tending to her booth at the event.<\/p>\n
Speaking to 8days.sg, she said a man carrying a selfie stick and camera lingered near her booth for around two minutes.<\/p>\n
What she didn\u2019t know was that staff from a neighbouring booth had already begun noticing something unusual.<\/p>\n
According to Rimi, one of the neighbouring exhibitors discreetly took a photo of the man before alerting her to his behaviour.<\/p>\n
By the time she turned around, however, things appeared perfectly normal.<\/p>\n
Rimi said the man was no longer holding his camera in the same position. Instead, he allegedly approached her, asked to take a photo together, and even requested her Instagram handle.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe seemed slightly nervous, but prepared to ask for a selfie,\u201d Rimi told 8days.sg.<\/p>\n
She added that, as far as she knows, he never ended up following her account.<\/p>\n
At that point, she still had no idea why the neighbouring exhibitors were concerned.<\/p>\n
It was only after they showed her the photograph they had taken that she decided to review footage from her own pocket camera, which had been positioned above her booth throughout the event.<\/p>\n
After watching the footage back, Rimi said she believed the man may have been attempting to capture upskirt photos or videos.<\/p>\n
\u2060\u201dIt is unlikely that I would find out about this incident as I would not check the full footage,\u201d she told us.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, the neighbouring exhibitors acted quickly.<\/p>\n
“The staff then spread the evidence to the Nijigen team, and I am very grateful for his help,” she said.<\/p>\n
According to Rimi, event organisers were informed of the situation and later told her that the man had been prevented from entering the venue on the third day of the event.<\/p>\n
“Appreciate the community for spreading awareness, and I’m very grateful that the Nijigen team was aware of this incident and added extra security during Day 2,” she wrote.<\/p>\n
She also encouraged fellow attendees to remain vigilant.<\/p>\n
“As always, look out for one another, and stay alert when there’s suspicious individuals at the venue,\u201d Rimi added.<\/p>\n
The video has since drawn an outpouring of support online, with many netizens expressing sympathy and condemning the alleged behaviour.<\/p>\n
One commenter wrote: \u201cThat is disgusting, and there is zero question what he is doing. No other reason for a phone to be that low, and angled. I am so sorry this happened to you. Thank you for posting this video and not censoring his face.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some netizens also asked whether Rimi had been wearing safety shorts underneath her cosplay at the time.<\/p>\n
She later confirmed that she was.<\/p>\n
