{"id":57481,"date":"2026-06-02T19:40:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T11:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=57481"},"modified":"2026-06-02T19:40:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T11:40:59","slug":"no-helmet-riding-above-speed-limit-e-bike-user-seen-in-mce-tunnel-singapore-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=57481","title":{"rendered":"No helmet, riding above speed limit: E-bike user seen in MCE tunnel, Singapore News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The rules are clear \u2014 e-bikes and bicycles are not allowed on the expressways \u2014 but one user was seen blatantly disregarding traffic rules in an incident captured on camera on Sunday (May 31) morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A video taken by a car passenger and shared with Facebook page SG Road Vigilante shows the e-biker user riding without a helmet along an underground stretch of the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"429\" width=\"560\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1259864625962040%2F&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=560&amp;t=0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\">\u00a0<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Based on the time he took to travel between fire service cabinets \u2014 placed at 50m intervals \u2014 the e-bike rider likely travelled at about 35kmh during the recording.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum speed allowed for a registered power-assisted bicycle is 25kmh.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the person who provided the video to SG Road Vigilante, the incident took place at about 4am.<\/p>\n<p>Several social media users urged the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to use its surveillance cameras in the tunnel to identify and penalise the errant e-biker.<\/p>\n<p>Under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asiaone.com\/singapore\/land-transport-related-matters-bill-mot-mha-pmd-speed-limiter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enhanced regulations which kicked in on June 1<\/a>, keeping a non UL-2272 e-scooter is an offence.
