{"id":57249,"date":"2026-06-02T00:48:49","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:48:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=57249"},"modified":"2026-06-02T00:48:49","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:48:49","slug":"see-mw4s-multiplayer-in-action-and-crazy-new-map-that-has-500-combinations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=57249","title":{"rendered":"See MW4\u2019s Multiplayer In Action And \u201cCrazy\u201d New Map That Has 500 Combinations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/MW4-REVEAL-014-1.jpg?w=300\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second episode of Call of Duty&#8217;s new Modern Warfare 4 docu-series gives an insider look at Infinity Ward\u2019s development of the game&#8217;s multiplayer, and the developer shows off gameplay on an ambitious new map that constantly changes in design.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Midway through the video, Studio MP Creative Director Geoff Smith talks about taking Call of Duty&#8217;s map designs to the &#8220;next level&#8221; and the creation of the game&#8217;s Kill Block multiplayer map.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Philosophy of Multiplayer - From The Ward Ep. 2  | MW4\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NKvnPNzqqTk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Like how can you keep coming up with map designs and layouts?&#8221; Smith asked while discussing map design. &#8220;What if we just made one that was living and it keeps changing every time you play it?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern Warfare 4&#8217;s Kill Block is a map that consists of three &#8220;slabs&#8221; that are all modular pieces that can be swapped out and connected with other pieces in various different ways. The map will change every match, with the three slabs being randomly decided before a game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smith shows off both real and prototype slabs, giving a behind-the-scenes look at how the map is designed. The developer also boasts that Infinity Ward has the content to do &#8220;upwards of over 900&#8221; different slabs to feature for the map, but technical limitations will likely bring the number down to 500.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of size, each slab is about the size of Call of Duty&#8217;s 2v2 Gunfight maps. When all three are pieced together, Smith says the full map size is equivalent to the popular Shoot House map from 2019&#8217;s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The video also showcases Modern Warfare 4&#8217;s movement, which doesn&#8217;t include wall taps or omnimovement of the recent Black Ops games, but it does include fluid movement and sliding. Additionally, the game also adds the new ability to climb poles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The developer acknowledges the criticism of Modern Warfare 2&#8217;s movement. &#8220;We took some things away. Some Freedom,&#8221; admits Co-Studio Head Mark Grigsby. The goal for Modern Warfare 4 was to make the movement feel fluid and unrestricted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern Warfare 4 will launch with multiplayer, DMZ, and a classic &#8220;linear-style&#8221; campaign. The game releases on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
