{"id":57018,"date":"2026-06-01T02:25:42","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T18:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=57018"},"modified":"2026-06-01T02:25:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T18:25:42","slug":"first-train-for-cross-island-line-arrives-in-singapore-will-undergo-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=57018","title":{"rendered":"First train for Cross Island Line arrives in Singapore, will undergo testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 <!-- -->The first train for the upcoming Cross Island Line (CRL) has arrived in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a Facebook post on May 31, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the train, which arrived from Qingdao, China, will now undergo tests before the 50km line opens in phases from 2030.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">When fully operational, the CRL will connect the eastern, western and north-eastern parts of Singapore, including major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and the Changi region, said LTA on its website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/transport\/construction-starts-on-cross-island-line-phase-2-6-mrt-stations-in-spores-west-ready-by-2032?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">Singapore\u2019s eighth MRT line,<\/span><\/a> the CRL will be connected to all existing lines except the Circle Line. Eight of the CRL\u2019s announced stations will serve as interchanges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In its Facebook post, the LTA said commuters can expect 44 fully automated six-car trains on the CRL, along with wider gangways (platforms connecting train cars) for smoother passenger movement and a more comfortable journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">There will also be smart monitoring and diagnostic systems that help detect potential faults early and improve reliability, said LTA of the new line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The CRL is being constructed in three phases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Phase one, which is 29km long, involves 12 stations, running from Aviation Park station to Bright Hill interchange station. This will serve residential and industrial areas such as Loyang, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Defu, Hougang, Serangoon North and Ang Mo Kio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The 15km second phase, comprising six underground stations, includes interchanges with the Downtown Line at King Albert Park station and the East-West Line in Clementi. The other stations are Turf City, Jurong Lake District, Maju and West Coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Construction for the first phase of the CRL has commenced and is targeted to be completed by 2030, said LTA on its<!-- --> <!-- -->website.
