{"id":56997,"date":"2026-06-01T00:21:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T16:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=56997"},"modified":"2026-06-01T00:21:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T16:21:43","slug":"first-cross-island-line-train-arrives-in-singapore-singapore-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=56997","title":{"rendered":"First Cross Island Line train arrives in Singapore , Singapore News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The first of 44 six-car trains for the Cross Island Line (CRL) has arrived in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>In a social media post on Sunday (May 31), the Land Transport Authority showed the first trainset being unloaded from Jurong Port \u2014 where new MRT trains are typically unloaded at.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in April, Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow had given the public <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asiaone.com\/singapore\/mrt-cross-island-line-cr151-train-jeffrey-siow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a preview of the CR151 trains<\/a> when he visited Qingdao rail depot.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to the trains for the Thomson-East Coast Line, each car on the new train will have five doors on each side.<\/p>\n<p>They will also have wider gangways \u2014 flexible connections between two train cars \u2014 for smoother passenger movement and a more comfortable journey, LTA said.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"476\" width=\"267\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1295742349404460%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=267&amp;t=0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\">\u00a0<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>These trains will also be equipped with condition monitoring and diagnostic systems for early detection of potential equipment faults.<\/p>\n<p>The first trainset will next undergo system integration testing at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/asiaonecom\/posts\/in-pictures-the-singapore-rail-test-centre-officially-opens-today-mar-28-located\/1071192255033259\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Singapore Rail Test Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A consortium, including CRCC Qingdao Sifang, were awarded a $589 million contract in June 2023 for the supply of the 44 CRL trains.<\/p>\n<p>When fully operational from 2030, the CRL will be Singapore\u2019s longest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asiaone.com\/singapore\/cross-island-mrt-line-run-directly-under-central-catchment-nature-reserve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fully underground MRT line<\/a> at more than 50km long.<\/p>\n<p>It will serve existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors, connecting major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>[[nid:732931]]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asiaone.com\/singapore\/cross-island-line-first-train-cr151-singapore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article At Source <\/a><br \/>\n<center\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first of 44 six-car trains for the Cross Island Line (CRL) has arrived in Singapore.
