Additional security personnel were deployed to maintain order. Immigration officers had to clear locals and foreigners manually during that period. The Star reported that the Malaysian Immig\u00adration Systems (MyIMMs) data centre, a 30-year-old system, had issues, and the problem was not due to a hack. The last time something similar occurred was on Apr. 23. A new immigration system, the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) is expected to replace MyIMMs by 2028.
