A netizen was slammed for asking if the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) should instruct full-time national servicemen (NSFs) to \u201clower their backpacks\u201d in a Facebook post, as others urged the netizen to \u201cgive NSFs a break\u201d.<\/p>\n
In the Facebook post, which has since been taken down, the netizen shared a photo of a group of servicemen in pixelated uniforms standing in a train while carrying their backpacks.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould not the SAF instruct NS men to lower their backpacks, as suggested also by MRT?\u201d the post\u2019s caption read.<\/p>\n
A screenshot of the post was later shared on the SMRTRabak subreddit on May 26<\/a>, where Redditor LawlessWrong asked: \u201cGive NSFs a break, can?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFirst give up seat, then lower backpack\u2026 next what? Must salute to citizens already\u2026\u201d the user added in a comment.<\/p>\n The post garnered over 1,100 upvotes, as netizens expressed outrage in the comments.<\/p>\n Some noted that the train was \u201cnot even crowded\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cNot many other people put their backpacks down even in peak hour, why are you singling them out?\u201d one asked, while another agreed that there was \u201cno issue\u201d with the NSFs\u2019 actions.<\/p>\n Others described the post as \u201cself-entitled\u201d, while a user said that the netizen was \u201ctrying to get attention\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cNS men cannot lower their backpacks, later enemy steal how?
