Mr Lim added that rising labour costs are accelerating the need for automation across industries, giving his firm opportunities to fill the gaps.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAutomation is not a good-to-have, it’s actually a must-have, a necessity,\u201d he said. \u201cWith all these factors in mind, America was a bit of a no-brainer for us to double down.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another Singapore company growing its US presence is plastics parts maker Sunningdale Tech, which operates a plant in Arizona serving the medical technology sector.<\/p>\n
The facility manufactures components for products such as glucose monitors and diabetes care consumables.\u00a0<\/p>\n
CEO and executive director Khoo Boo Hor said global uncertainty has made it increasingly important for suppliers to be physically present in the US.<\/p>\n
\u201cCustomers are really looking into their supply chain strategy,\u201d he said. \u201cBeing present (in the US) gives us an opportunity to be close to them, grow with them and participate in new product development.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
