Upcoming Seletar & Tengah MRT Lines<\/b><\/h2>\n\n

If you\u2019re tired of the seemingly endless train disruptions in 2026 that are derailing your plans \u2013 from the ongoing closure of the Sengkang West LRT Inner loop<\/a> to the TEL and DTL train service disruptions<\/a> \u2013 here is some good news to balance things out. There\u2019ll be 2 new upcoming MRT lines in Singapore, the Seletar Line<\/b> and Tengah Line<\/b>, to look forward to.<\/p>\n\n

What are the Seletar & Tengah Lines?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n

The Seletar and Tengah Lines are part of the Ministry of Transport\u2019s goal of ensuring that most households are within a 10-minute walk of a train station<\/b>. These train services aim to serve those living in new and growing developments <\/b>in the north and northeast regions, like Tengah<\/a>, who may not yet have direct access to the rail network.<\/p>\n

Intended to relieve the increasing travel demand along the northeast corridor, the Seletar and Tengah Lines were first mentioned as a proposed new line in the Land Transport Master Plan (LTMP) 2040 <\/b>in 2019<\/b>.<\/p>\n

They were then announced as 2 separate lines<\/b> by Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat as part of the Ministry of Transport\u2019s spending plans for Budget 2025<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n

Which neighbourhoods will the Seletar & Tengah Lines serve?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n

Although the exact transport network is not known yet, the Seletar Line is expected to serve neighbourhoods such as Woodlands<\/b>, Sembawang<\/b>, Sengkang West<\/b>, Serangoon North<\/b>, Whampoa<\/b>, Kallang<\/b>, and the Greater Southern Waterfront<\/b>.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Tengah Line is expected to pass through Tengah<\/b>, Bukit Batok<\/b>, Queensway<\/b>, and Bukit Merah<\/b> in order to supplement the current transport networks in the west and northwest regions.<\/p>\n

There are also plans for the 2 lines to meet at the Greater Southern Waterfront <\/b>so that commuters can enjoy better efficiency and more seamless connectivity when travelling.<\/p>\n
