Fourteen people<\/a> have been caught in recent enforcement operations targeting illegal cross-border transport services, Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling said on Monday (25 May), as reported in Channel News Asia.<\/p>\n The Land Transport Authority (LTA)<\/a> conducted islandwide checks over the past few weeks, including at Changi Airport and Gardens by the Bay. On Monday, LTA and the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority also carried out a joint operation at the Woodlands and Tuas land checkpoints.<\/p>\n Ms Sun said the operations are part of efforts to protect commuter safety and safeguard the livelihoods of local point-to-point drivers. She urged travellers, especially with the school holidays approaching, to use licensed cross-border transport providers.<\/p>\n The crackdown comes after enhancements to the cross-border taxi scheme took effect on 4 May, allowing licensed cross-border taxis to drop passengers off anywhere in Singapore and in several parts of Johor.<\/p>\n LTA said all 14 vehicles involved were impounded. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services may be fined up to $3,000, jailed for up to six months, or both, and their vehicles may be forfeited.<\/p>\n Since July 2025, LTA has checked more than 3,900 vehicles.
