Singapore actor Leon Jay Williams<\/a> recently took to Instagram to express frustration over parents sending sick children to school after his 11-year-old daughter Harper<\/a> came down with Influenza<\/a> A.<\/p>\n The 50-year-old actor shared that Harper has been battling a high fever for a week after likely catching the virus from a schoolmate.<\/p>\n \u201cHarper received As in school recently. Not the good type. She got \u2018Influenza A\u2019,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n According to Leon, Harper was so unwell she had to miss several days of school, including the post-exam activities she had been excitedly looking forward to.<\/p>\n The actor also shared photos of Harper looking weak and exhausted while waiting to see a doctor, along with a thermometer reading of 40\u00b0C.<\/p>\n Leon then called out parents who continue sending seriously ill children to school.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know why parents allow their seriously ill kids to go to school. We are talking about primary school students for goodness sake!\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cMissing a few days or even missing a minor exam will not be the end of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n He added that sending sick children to school risks spreading illnesses to classmates and teachers, and urged parents to at least ensure their kids wear masks.<\/p>\n \u201cAt least put on a mask! Masks are not just for Covid. It\u2019s basic health courtesy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Leon also stressed that schools are not just places for academic learning, but also where children learn kindness and consideration for others.<\/p>\n \u201cSchool is also about learning to be kind and mindful of the people around us. Shall we try our best to not have this selfish mentality anymore please?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Many netizens agreed with Leon\u2019s sentiments and wished Harper a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n \u201cStrongly agree with you.
