But by the late 1980s, it had lost its movie glamour. In that book, Fan played with a colourful, often profane, cast of nuns, triads and drug addicts amid the neighbourhood\u2019s untidy shanties.<\/p>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">Five years later, Fan has released his new novel, <em data-qa=\"ContentSchemaRender-defaultRenderMapFunctions-Component\" class=\"css-1mniedq ex3nmsa15\">Goodbye Chinatown<\/em>. It begins in <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">London\u2019s Chinatown<\/span> in the autumn of 2001, just after the September 11 terror attacks.
