Steven S. DeKnight’s Spartacus: House of Ashur has reportedly been canceled at Starz after just one season.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/u> reports that the alternate timeline spin-off has come to an end after Season 1 concluded with 10 episodes earlier this year. The site’s sources say the show failed to find the viewership necessary to continue, adding that “the makeup of the follow-up\u2019s audience did not quite align with Starz\u2019s focus on women and underrepresented audiences.”<\/p>\n

Spartacus: House of Ashur is now without a home of its own, but that doesn’t mean the show is dead and buried quite yet. Lionsgate Television is said to already be shopping the series around to other platforms, though potential bidders have yet to be announced.<\/p>\n

Spartacus: House of Ashur Season 1 premiered late last year and tells the story of an alternate timeline where Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) lived past the events of Spartacus: Vengeance. The series also starred Graham McTavish as Korris, Tenika Davis as Achillia, Claudia Black as Cossutia, Jamaica Vaughan as Hilara, and more. Starz picked up the series in 2023 but went on to split with Lionsgate in May 2025, leaving ownership of Spartacus with the latter.<\/p>\n

“What if Ashur lived, rewarded with the gladiator school where he once bled?” an official description from Starz says. “With Achillia, a gladiatrix, he sparks spectacles that defy Roman elite.”<\/p>\n
