{"id":54425,"date":"2026-05-22T15:49:36","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T07:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=54425"},"modified":"2026-05-22T15:49:36","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T07:49:36","slug":"accountant-gets-30-weeks-jail-for-submitting-fictitious-company-documents-to-iras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=54425","title":{"rendered":"Accountant gets 30 weeks\u2019 jail for submitting fictitious company documents to IRAS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 <!-- -->An accountant has been sentenced to 30 weeks\u2019 jail for submitting fictitious company documents to the<!-- --> <!-- -->Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore\u00a0(IRAS).<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">After a trial, Daniel Chun Ling Ping, 50, was convicted of multiple charges under the Goods and Services Tax Act.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He had furnished fictitious invoices and transaction listings during a GST audit <!-- -->by IRAS<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a statement on <!-- -->May 21<!-- -->, the authority said that his case was linked to Teo Ah Moy, the sole director of two companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">She was ordered to pay more than $3.5 million in August 2025 for income tax and GST offences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The offences involving her companies, Maxim Ingredients International and Matrix Ingredients, resulted in more than $1.7 million in undercharged taxes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cIRAS conducted an audit of Maxim and requested information concerning Maxim\u2019s business, along with documents supporting its GST claims, and Chun was authorised by Teo to address IRAS\u2019 audit,\u201d said the authority.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Despite knowing that Maxim was dormant, Chun created fictitious invoices and listings for submission to IRAS.
