We’ve seen 480Hz. We’ve even seen 720Hz. But this may be the fastest FHD monitor we’ve seen so far. To avoid burying the lede, LG’s UltraGear 25G590B is an IPS 24.5-inch 1920×1080 monitor with a staggering 1000Hz refresh rate.

To be clear, it’s not the first monitor out there to reach that coveted number; Acer, Samsung, Philips and AOC are among the recent names to announce monitors of that speed. But an important distinction is in the resolution; the LG Ultragear is perhaps the first to run such a high refresh rate at 1080p.

That 1000Hz is native, too, so no dual mode caveats either.

And even with the four-digit refresh rate, the monitor will come equipped with LG’s Motion Blur Reduction Pro, which aims to decrease the blur that happens when moving in fast-paced games like FPSes, which the monitor was specifically designed for.

Motion Blur Reduction Pro is also presumably an expansion of LG’s existing 1ms Motion Blur Reduction feature on its displays. While LG has not officially commented on how it works, most motion blur reduction features on monitors typically use backlight strobing, or turning off the backlight for a split second while individual pixels refresh.

We’ll have to see how exactly this feature earns the “Pro” moniker once it comes out.

The 25G590B will also come with a slew of AI features, including AI Scene Optimisation, which adjusts picture settings depending on the genre of the game you’re playing, and AI Sound, where audio content is analysed and adjusted in real time for clarity, as well as for spatial sound (though this is only for compatible headsets).

Pricing and Availability

LG didn’t mention when the UltraGear 25G590B will be available exactly, only providing a “second half of 2026” release window. The company also didn’t mention how much it’ll cost.

There’s an elephant in the room that might be pertinent to mention as we talk about pricing, however – you’ll need some top-tier components to get any games to run at 1000fps, especially at 1080p. The alternative would be to adjust the resolution for the games below FHD, which would, of course, defeat the entire point of this monitor.

As far as display refresh rates go, we’ve gone past the limits of practicality for a vast majority of users, but if this monitor interests you purely from the perspective of future-proofing your setup, you may need to factor in the price of high-end components as well.

We’ve seen 240Hz.
