Sony has announced a new flagship headphone called the 1000X The Collexion (WH-1000XX)<\/b>, a premium addition to its long-running 1000X noise-cancelling lineup that also coincides with the series\u2019 10th anniversary<\/b>.<\/p>\n
While we can expect the new headphone to continue on the 1000X series\u2019 longstanding exceptional sound and noise cancelling performances, Sony says the 1000X The Collexion is aimed more at delivering a \u201crefined listening experience\u201d through upgraded materials, comfort and audio tuning.<\/p>\n Photo: Sony<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n At the centre of the new headphones is a bespoke driver unit featuring a newly developed high-rigidity dome made from unidirectional carbon composite material. Sony claims this improves instrument and vocal separation while delivering a wider soundstage and clearer high-frequency detail.<\/p>\n The company also worked with several Grammy-winning and nominated mastering engineers to fine-tune the headphones, with the goal of reproducing music in a way that stays faithful to the artist\u2019s original intent.<\/p>\n One of the bigger additions here is support for DSEE Ultimate<\/b>, Sony\u2019s Edge-AI-powered audio upscaling technology that restores detail lost in compressed music files in real time. The 1000X The Collexion is also the first Sony headphone to expand its 360 Reality Audio Upmix<\/b> feature into three separate listening modes for music, cinema and gaming content.<\/p>\n Photo: Sony<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Alongside the new headphone launch, Sony also announced a new Sandstone<\/b> colour option for the existing WH-1000XM6 wireless headphones.
