Google and Samsung have officially teased a new pair of Android XR smart glasses<\/b> during Google I\/O 2026<\/b>. The glasses still do not have an official product name yet, but both companies confirmed they are being developed as part of the broader Android XR platform alongside Samsung\u2019s Galaxy XR<\/b> headset.<\/p>\n
Unlike mixed reality headsets that are bulkier, these new glasses appear to focus more on lightweight, everyday wearable computing \u2013 not unlike the Ray-Ban Meta 2<\/b> series of smart glasses. During the presentation, Google demonstrated Gemini AI features running directly through the glasses, including live translation, contextual assistance, navigation overlays, messaging and voice-driven interactions. The interface also appears capable of displaying small contextual widgets within the user\u2019s field of view.<\/p>\n
Google also confirmed partnerships with eyewear brands including Warby Parker<\/b> and Korean luxury eyewear brand Gentle Monster<\/b>, so we can be sure these smart glasses will look pretty at least. Samsung is expected to handle the hardware side together with Google\u2019s Android XR software platform and Gemini AI ecosystem.<\/p>\n
At the moment, Google and Samsung are still being fairly careful with specifics. There\u2019s no confirmed launch date, pricing or final hardware specifications yet. But both companies have committed to launching the glasses later this year, placing them in more direct competition with Meta\u2019s Ray-Ban smart glasses and Apple\u2019s own wearable ambitions.<\/p>\n
