A 58-year-old female pedestrian died after an accident in Kallang that led to the arrest of a 31-year-old male car driver for dangerous driving causing death.<\/p>\n
The accident happened at about 12.30pm on Sunday (May 17) at the junction of Lavender Street and Kallang Bahru towards Balestier Road.<\/p>\n

A video of the accident shared with Facebook page SG Road Vigilante shows a Honda Shuttle hurtling through a red light stop and crashing into a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
She was sent flying for several metres, landing at the other end of the junction.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a dark coloured Kia sports utility vehicle (SUV), which was making a right-turn to Lavender Street when the Honda Shuttle crashed into it, was stopped just after the junction. A middle-aged male driver is seen standing beside the car while using his phone.<\/p>\n
The Honda Shuttle only came to a stop further ahead \u2014 near the junction of Tyrwhitt Road \u2014 while a man in his 30s was seen sitting on the road divider. He did not appear to be injured.<\/p>\n
Subsequent videos show the male driver giving a thumbs-up sign to passers-by who were filming him.<\/p>\n

After the accident, several passers-by were seen gathered at the scene while a man performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the woman.<\/p>\n
Responding to AsiaOne’s queries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force said the accident involved two cars and the female pedestrian, adding that she was conveyed unconscious to hospital where she later died.<\/p>\n
The police also said they have arrested the male car driver for dangerous driving causing death amid ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n
