According to the disciplinary tribunal\u2019s grounds of decision, the case began on 11 April 2022 when the patient visited Dr Lim\u2019s clinic under Central Medical Group.<\/p>\n
Dr Lim diagnosed the man with severe cellulitis in his right foot. Blood glucose tests also showed the patient had severe diabetes.<\/p>\n

Despite the seriousness of the condition, Dr Lim prescribed oral antibiotics and arranged a follow-up appointment four days later instead of referring the patient to a hospital or specialist.<\/p>\n
No improvement despite repeated visits<\/h3>\n
The patient returned for four more consultations on 14, 25 and 30 April, as well as 9 May 2022.<\/p>\n
Court documents stated that Dr Lim noted there was no clinical improvement in the patient\u2019s foot during these visits.<\/p>\n
However, he continued prescribing oral antibiotics and other medications without recommending emergency treatment or specialist care.<\/p>\n
The tribunal also found that Dr Lim failed to conduct a mandatory Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) assessment before deciding not to refer the patient to a specialist.<\/p>\n
Patient later diagnosed with severe gangrene<\/h3>\n
On 10 May 2022, the patient sought treatment at another clinic for a second opinion.<\/p>\n
