A UK-based TikToker brought a mutton murtabak home on a 14-hour flight from Singapore, calling it the \u201cbest souvenir one can buy from Singapore\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ms Zaynah Din, whose goes by @zaynahsbakes on TikTok, shared the two-minute video<\/a>, captioned, \u201cBetter than a fridge magnet\u201d, on May 14.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I\u2019m back from my travels and I bought my sister probably the best souvenir one can buy from Singapore. I\u2019m not joking. Anyone want to guess what it is?\u201d asks Miss Zaynah, a halal chef and food blogger, before revealing that she had taken the mutton murtabak on a 14-hour flight home.<\/p>\n \u201cImagine a keema paratha but like, next level. Soft, slightly chewy, crispy bread. It\u2019s filled with mutton that\u2019s kind of spicy plus egg and onions and then you eat it with curry on the side but I like it with curry and sambal on the side,\u201d she explains as she displays the murtabak, adding that she can\u2019t wait to show it to her sister.<\/p>\n She heats the murtabak in a pan \u201cso it\u2019s nice and crispy\u201d when her sister awakes.<\/p>\n \u201cThoughts?\u201d she asks her sister, who replies: \u201cThat was a good savoury breakfast.\u201d<\/p>\n The video has garnered 52,600 views, 3,000 reactions, and 130 comments.<\/p>\n Some netizens were amused by the idea of a murtabak making a 14-hour journey to the UK.<\/p>\n \u201cMost miles ever travelled by murtabak,\u201d said a netizen. Another said: \u201cOMG that\u2019s a well-travelled murtabak \u2013 hope they enjoyed it!!!\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, fans of murtabak were proud of the recognition it received.<\/p>\n \u201cMurtabak representing Singapore cuisine for once? I\u2019m here for it,\u201d said one TikToker. \u201cHahahaha! My English family in-laws love it!! they called it \u2018motorbike\u2019,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n Yet another who was delighted by the attention for the dish said: \u201cThis makes me so happy \u2013 murtabak always goes unnoticed!!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNot by me,\u201d quipped Ms Zaynah. \u201cI always notice it!! Hahaha.\u201d<\/p>\n Some netizens were impressed that Ms Zaynah liked it enough to fly a packet home.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m beyond shock but proud at the same time. Enjoy,\u201d said one. \u201cHahahah the dedication for murtabak. Valid!!\u201d said another.<\/p>\n One netizen thought her act showed how much she cared for her sister: \u201cYo, this is sibling love on a whole nother level.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to a TikTok user\u2019s comment, Ms Zaynah confirmed that she bought the murtabak from Al Tasneem, located in Kampong Gelam<\/a>.
