According to the accompanying caption, the clip was recorded the day before at a BHP petrol station in Ayer Tawar, a town 60km west of Ipoh, Perak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The video begins with the pump attendant replacing a yellow pump nozzle \u2013 meant for government-subsidised Ron95 fuel meant exclusively for Malaysian citizens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The man recording the video points out to the pump attendant that the Mercedes-Benz GLC is a Singapore-registered car and accuses the driver of opening the boot lid to conceal its registration plate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The man tells the driver \u2013 a middle-aged woman \u2013 that she should not be using Ron95, even going around the car to show the car plate.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"my-lg md:my-xl\">\n<p><hr class=\"flex-1 border-grayscale-100 lg:hidden\"\/><span class=\"text-grayscale-400 text-14 leading-16 font-primary text-center lg:text-left p-sm\">Scroll to continue reading<\/span><\/p>\n<hr class=\"flex-1 border-grayscale-100 my-md\"\/>\n<hr class=\"my-md border-grayscale-100\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">\u201cSorry, I don\u2019t know,\u201d says the driver in Malay, but the man says it is impossible that she didn\u2019t know the law. She repeats her apology and continues to claim ignorance while the man changes tack, saying she should not apologise to him and that it was the law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">He then claims that it is the petrol station\u2019s fault for allowing her to pump subsidised fuel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The video ends with the woman explaining that she had asked the pump attendant to fill up her car.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"lg:text-28 lg:leading-33.6px pt-md font-primary text-24 font-bold leading-1.2\">M\u2019sian netizens upset by woman\u2019s actions<\/h2>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">In a little more than 24 hours, post had garnered more than a million views, 19,300 reactions, and 3,200 comments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Netizens, who were likely Malaysians, were upset that subsidised oil was sold to foreigners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">\u201cFrom a rich country but want to steal subsidised oil,\u201d commented a netizen, alluding to Singapore. \u201cCitizens of the most developed country in the world robbing a third-world country,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Some called for the arrest of the driver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">\u201cCall the police right away\u2026who opens the boot lid when filling the fuel tank? We mark the car after this, hahaha,\u201d said a Facebook user.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">\u201cThis is the best&#8230;we just need to teach these people,\u201d said a netizen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Others felt that the petrol station and its staff were at fault, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">\u201cSometimes, action has to be taken against these petrol station workers,\u201d one netizen said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">\u201cClose down the petrol station,\u201d demanded another.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Subsidised Ron95 petrol is available strictly to Malaysians only at RM1.99. Drivers of foreign-registered vehicles, including those from Singapore, are only allowed to pump Ron97 or higher-grade fuel in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Since April 1, laws in Malaysia have been revised so action could be taken against both the driver of a foreign-registered vehicle and the petrol station operator for violation of the ban of sale of Ron95 petrol to foreigners.
