{"id":52630,"date":"2026-05-15T21:25:38","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T13:25:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=52630"},"modified":"2026-05-15T21:25:38","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T13:25:38","slug":"top-singapore-based-physicist-relocates-to-china-after-superconductor-breakthrough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=52630","title":{"rendered":"Top Singapore-based physicist relocates to China after superconductor breakthrough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Stephen Lin Er Chow, a physicist who designed a groundbreaking copper-free superconducting oxide capable of high-temperature superconductivity, has joined Zhejiang University from the National University of Singapore (NUS).<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Last year, at 27, Chow published the findings in the journal Nature, marking the first top-tier publication for the NUS lab since its establishment two decades ago.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Confirming that he had joined Zhejiang University full-time, Chow said: \u201cI really like Hangzhou\u2019s living environment [and] the scenery around West Lake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">He also pointed to his connections to China, noting that his grandfather was of Chinese descent and his wife is Chinese.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">At NUS in 2022, Chow became the youngest recipient of the Best Graduate Researcher Award during his PhD studies.
