Whether you\u2019re staying in Singapore or travelling around the region in the next few months, you probably know to be prepared for sweltering heat. Heatwaves have struck countries like Bangkok, and it\u2019s not a stretch to imagine that we\u2019ll be facing similar conditions here when the \u201csuper El Nino\u201d cycle starts.<\/p>\n
In light of the impending heat, you might want to invest in a personal cooler. Thankfully, Sony has just announced two new models.<\/p>\n
Reon Pocket Pro Plus<\/h2>\n\n

If you\u2019re an unfortunate soul who needs to be out and about most of the day, you\u2019ll want to check out the new Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus. This personal cooler is an iterative update on the Reon Pocket Pro, but it promises up to 20% improved cooling performance thanks to a new cooling algorithm, as well as the cooling surface being up to 2\u00b0C <\/b>colder.<\/p>\n
It still retains the two individual thermo-modules from before, and the hardware appears to be mostly unchanged from the Reon Pocket Pro. The differences are mostly due to the new cooling algorithm, an adjustable exhaust vent, and a re-engineered neckband that has better holding force and stability.<\/p>\n
In fact, Sony\u2019s own website states that you can \u201cupgrade\u201d your old Reon Pocket Pro to the Reon Pocket Pro Plus simply by replacing the neckband with the S$35 Reon Pocket Pro Plus Neckband and performing a software update.<\/p>\n
For people who have only just bought a Reon Pocket Pro, this will definitely be good news.<\/p>\n

The base model is getting a bigger update with new hardware. The new Reon Pocket 6 is inheriting features from the Reon Pocket Pro like the dual thermo-modules<\/b>, a new vapour chamber and heat sink, as well as 1.5x faster charging in addition to the new cooling algorithm.<\/p>\n
Both new models remain compatible with the original Reon Pocket Tag, but the Reon Pocket Pro Plus will come with the new Reon Pocket Tag 2, which is 18% smaller than its predecessor while offering a strap hole and carabiner for more carrying options.<\/p>\n
The Reon Pocket Tag and Tag 2 are wearable sensors that measure the temperature and humidity of your environment. When they are paired with a cooler, they can adjust the cooler\u2019s output to keep you comfortable.<\/p>\n
Pricing and availability<\/h2>\n
The Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus retails at S$349<\/b> while the Reon Pocket 6 is priced at S$299<\/b>. From now until 30 June 2026, My Sony Rewards Members can enjoy S$30 off when they purchase either model, with the Reon Pocket Pro Plus discounted to S$319 and the Reon Pocket 6 to S$269.<\/p>\n
For people who want more than one personal cooler, there\u2019s a bundle for both the Reon Pocket Pro Plus and Pocket 6 for S$518<\/b>, which is a S$130 savings from the usual price of S$648.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
