account, urged the public to avoid Thomson Road, from Balestier Road to Novena Rise, from <!-- -->6.14pm to 7.14pm<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The agency later also said people should avoid the <!-- -->junction of Geylang Road and Lorong 1 Geylang from 6.26pm to 7.26pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In another update at <!-- -->6.35pm, it said people should keep away from Happy Avenue North<!-- -->, in the MacPherson area, until 7.35pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">At <!-- -->6.42pm, PUB urged the public to steer clear of the junction of Stevens Road and Balmoral Road<!-- --> for an hour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">At <!-- -->7pm, it said that Margaret Drive, near Jalan Penjara<!-- -->, should be avoided until 8pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The National Environment Agency (NEA) said <!-- -->at about 6pm that moderate to heavy thundery showers, with gusty wind, were expected over many areas of Singapore from 6.30pm to 8pm<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In its forecast for the first fortnight of May, the weatherman said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/thundery-showers-warm-weather-expected-in-first-half-of-may?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">thundery showers can be expected in the afternoon over parts of the island<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">NEA said on April 30 that inter-monsoon conditions were expected to continue in Singapore and the surrounding region, with mostly light winds coming from variable directions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Sumatra squalls may bring widespread thundery showers and gusty winds on one or two mornings, the Meteorological Service Singapore said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Some thundery showers may also extend into the evening on a few days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The total rainfall for
