One memorable visit to Jacobs’ home sealed the deal in a rather unexpected way. While watching a rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand, her family spoke Afrikaans \u2013 about him, no less. Thanks to his time playing in the Netherlands, Fandi understood enough to follow the conversation, even responding in Dutch, a language closely related to Afrikaans.<\/p>\n
Jacobs’ mother was stunned, but Fandi knew exactly what had been said \u2013 including when Jacobs told her: \u201cThis is the man I want to marry.\u201d<\/p>\n
More than three decades on, the couple are still going strong. This year, they celebrate their 31st wedding anniversary.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With a love story straight out of a rom-com, it\u2019s no surprise that Fandi hopes his children might one day experience something similar.<\/p>\n
So, when Lim asked what he worries about most these days, his answer caught everyone off guard.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m worried that they\u2019re not getting married.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cue laughter all around.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I\u2019ve been questioned by my relatives and friends. Some of them have children and even grandchildren, [and they\u2019ll ask] \u2018Where\u2019s yours?\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
His go-to reply?<\/p>\n
\u201cStill in the making.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iman, who joined her father and brother later in the episode, offered some context.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause we\u2019re one of the older cousins, but none of us have gotten engaged or married, while all the other cousins who are my age or even younger already have.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fandi, never one to miss a chance for a cheeky jab, quipped: \u201cI think for the boys, I understand, they want to follow in my footsteps. They want to waste time until they are 30 plus,\u201d he said, shooting a playful side-eye at Iryan.<\/p>\n
Still, despite the teasing (and subtle parental nudges), Fandi isn\u2019t putting any real pressure on his kids to settle down.<\/p>\n
In fact, Iman admitted she \u201cdidn\u2019t even know\u201d he felt that way.<\/p>\n
