{"id":50576,"date":"2026-05-07T18:19:39","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T10:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=50576"},"modified":"2026-05-07T18:19:39","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T10:19:39","slug":"savour-off-menu-items-at-makansutras-new-hawker-omakase-collaborations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=50576","title":{"rendered":"Savour off-menu items at Makansutra\u2019s new hawker omakase collaborations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013<!-- --> Omakase-style dining \u2013 where the chef decides what you eat \u2013 need not be limited to a restaurant setting at eye-watering prices.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Makansutra founder and food critic KF <!-- -->Seetoh,<!-- --> in partnership with Maybank, has curated a series of six hawker omakase experiences that serve off-menu items.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He has launched two for a start \u2013 a Peranakan-style omakase ($168 for a five-course set, good for four to five people) with chef Zan Ho of Dulukala Peranakan at Kopi Haus coffee shop in Silat Avenue; and a Cantonese-style omakase ($68.80 a person, minimum of five people to dine) with chef Chik Ka Chung of Chef Chik at Haig Road Hawker Centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">I join Mr Seetoh for a preview of both omakase meals, with several dishes mixing tradition and innovation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">At Chef Chik, the clear showstopper is the Seared Cheung Fun with King Prawns and Bechamel Sauce, with its unique combination of flavours and textures. That perfect sear on the chee cheong fun gives the rice roll a crisp char on the outside, while remaining soft inside.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Other highlights include the Giant Grouper Medallions with Sakura Shrimp and Olive;
