Tampines lion dance troupe to soundproof unit after meeting with Baey Yam Keng following complaints from nearby residents<\/h2>\n

In good news for some Tampines residents, Baey Yam Keng has shared the steps being taken to address noise from lion dance practices<\/a> in the area.<\/p>\n

The issue has affected those living at Tampines GreenGlen and GreenCrest, with feedback about late-night practices surfacing since at least 2024.<\/p>\n

Following a recent meeting with multiple stakeholders, the troupe involved has agreed to stop noisy practices for two weeks while soundproofing works are carried out.<\/p>\n

Lion dance practice sessions affected new BTO residents in 2024<\/h3>\n

Tampines Member of Parliament (MP) Koh Poh Koon brought up the complaints on 23 July 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He stated that \u201cseveral lion dance troupes\u201d had been practising late into the night at T-Space, an industrial building opposite the then-new HDB blocks at Tampines GreenGlen and GreenCrest.<\/p>\n

Mr Koh explained that the troupes were preparing for an upcoming competition, which was why they had extended their practices late into the night.<\/p>\n

He added that they used to be able to do so before the new BTOs came up nearby and residents moved in.<\/p>\n

The MP said they would monitor the situation closely to ensure the noise issue was managed appropriately, and that noisy activities ended at an appropriate time.<\/p>\n

Matter temporarily resolved in 2025<\/h3>\n

However, the issue seemed to have continued cropping up.<\/p>\n

On 20 Sept 2025, Mr Koh\u2019s fellow Tampines MP, Mr Baey, performed house visits at Tampines GreenCrest.<\/p>\n
