Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) – Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Hotmangaradja Pontas Pandjaitan, described Belitung District in Bangka Belitung Islands Province as a tourist destination with vast potential to attract international visitors, noting that the island is now just a 50-minute flight from Singapore.<\/p>\n
He made the statement after joining the inaugural flight of Singapore-based Scoot airline from Singapore to Belitung Island, which landed at H.A.S. Hananjoeddin International Airport in Tanjungpandan, Belitung District, on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only Singaporean tourists, travelers from around the world can now continue their flights from Singapore to Belitung,\u201d Pandjaitan said, noting that the direct flight opens new tourism opportunities for Belitung and Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The ambassador cited Belitung\u2019s proximity to Singapore as a strategic advantage, with the flight enabling international tourists to reach the Indonesian island in about 50 minutes.<\/p>\n
In addition to geographic factors, he expressed optimism that Belitung could draw more foreign travelers with its high-quality airport services.<\/p>\n
He specifically appreciated immigration and customs procedures, which he believed can leave good impressions on visitors.<\/p>\n

Pandjaitan further noted the Singapore-Belitung flight as a crucial step toward strengthening Indonesia\u2019s global connectivity and expanding Belitung tourism\u2019s reach to international travelers.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the new international flight would help the archipelagic region boost its economy through a tourism sector strongly connected to global aviation networks.<\/p>\n
