A metal beam fell and crashed through the roof of a four-storey HDB block in Yishun during dismantling works at the adjacent Chong Pang Integrated Development<\/a> (CPID) worksite on Saturday (May 2) night.<\/p>\n In a social media post on Sunday, Coordinating Minister for National Security K Shanmugam, who is also MP for Nee Soon GRC, said a metal beam “slipped in an unexpected way” during dismantling works at an upper floor of the integrated development.<\/p>\n The 0.9-ha integrated development \u2014 which includes swimming pools, a gym and fitness studio, as well as an upgraded hawker centre and community club \u2014 held its topping out ceremony<\/a> on April 18.<\/p>\n “(The metal beam) came outside the building, went down and punched a hole through the roof of Block 103,” Shanmugam said, adding that no one was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n @k_shanmugam<\/a><\/p>\n [Incident at 103 Yishun Ring Road] Visited Blk 103 Yishun Ring Road following an incident linked to works at a nearby construction site. During dismantling works, a metal beam fell and damaged part of the corridor roof. Thankfully, no one was injured. The area has been secured, and assessments show the structure remains safe. Residents can continue to use the common areas, except for the cordoned-off section. Temporary works have been done, and repairs will follow soon. A coordinated response team comprising SLA, HDB, the Town Council, GRLs and the contractor was on site early last night to assess the situation.
