{"id":49418,"date":"2026-05-03T13:35:37","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T05:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=49418"},"modified":"2026-05-03T13:35:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T05:35:37","slug":"tel-disruption-train-services-resume-after-3-hour-major-delay-due-to-signalling-fault-singapore-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=49418","title":{"rendered":"TEL disruption: Train services resume after 3-hour major delay due to signalling fault, Singapore News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>[UPDATE: 10.48am on May 3]\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SMRT said in a Facebook post that train services between Caldecott and Orchard stations have resumed, but at a slower speed.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Train services on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) have resumed after a three-hour long disruption on Sunday (May 3) morning due to a signalling fault.<\/p>\n<p>The disruption began at about 6.55am with a minor delay affecting train services between Stevens and Caldecott stations.<\/p>\n<p>By 7.35am, SMRT said the minor delay had grown to affect the entire stretch of TEL.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>About 10 minutes later, train services between Caldecott and Orchard stations were disrupted. The entire TEL became disrupted at 8.48am and took about 30 minutes to be progressively restored.<\/p>\n<p>Between 8.48am and 10.48am, train services remained unavailable between Caldecott and Orchard stations.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"709\" width=\"500\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fasiaonecom%2Fposts%2Fpfbid033Ejf57bEsFczj7khqKJL4HbvTUyx1SB7FGJvn67Gmcpe1UMAQinuSAeoUgub6fpKl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\">\u00a0<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Lam Sheau Kai, president of SMRT Trains said the disruption was due to a signalling fault: \u201cThis followed signalling tests carried out by our original equipment manufacturer Alstom, the night before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we reset the system, some trains were held at affected platforms. As a result, there were no train services between Caldecott and Orchard stations.
