A singer-songwriter known for performing for passengers on public buses has gone viral after a SMRT bus driver told her she was \u201conly allowed to sit and sing\u201d on the upper deck.<\/p>\n

Singapore-based New Zealand singer, Kira Peace, previously made headlines in November 2025 for singing while standing on canteen tables at Ngee Ann Polytechnic<\/a>. She is often seen jamming with commuters on buses while playing her guitar, with each video garnering over 10,000 views on TikTok.<\/p>\n

She posted a clip of another impromptu performance on April 29<\/a>, showing her sitting on the front railing of the bus\u2019 upper deck. In the video, she hands her guitar to another passenger, whom she addressed as \u201cLouis\u201d, seated in front of her.<\/p>\n

The pair make music together, with Kira singing and Louis riffing on the guitar. Another passenger claps along, as the on-screen caption reads: \u201cYou can feel everyone on the bus loving it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were having so much fun, then things started to heat up,\u201d she writes in the caption.<\/p>\n

The bus driver, wearing a vest with SMRT\u2019s logo, then appears at the staircase, pointing at Kira and saying: \u201cYou\u2019re only allowed to sit and sing.\u201d<\/p>\n

She sits down quickly, apologising.<\/p>\n

As the bus driver leaves, Louis plays a descending scale, sending Kira into a fit of giggles.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh Louis such a cheeky man,\u201d Kira quips in the in-screen caption. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so nice meeting you, Louis. You are a rock star,\u201d she adds in the caption.<\/p>\n

\u2018Just reminding them of safety\u2019: Netizens support bus driver<\/h2>\n

The clip drew over 90,000 views, as some netizens commended the bus driver\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cBus driver just reminding them of safety,\u201d one netizen commented, while another said he was \u201cstill respectful while performing his duty\u201d. <\/p>\n

One user pointed out that Kira might have fallen if the bus stopped suddenly. \u201cThere is a camera behind you which you have blocked so the bus captain can\u2019t see the view to the upper deck from his CCTV,\u201d the netizen added.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaking noise on a bus is not appropriate, your voice so good but maybe wrong place,\u201d one user quipped.<\/p>\n

However, others were supportive, saying that she was \u201cvery brave and talented to perform in a public bus\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to guidelines by the Land Transport Authority (LTA)<\/a>, passengers are not permitted to stand on the upper deck, or sit on the steps of double-decker public buses.<\/p>\n
