Apple is reportedly exploring a \u201cmicro-curved\u201d OLED<\/b> for the 2027 iPhone. <\/p>\n
Digital Chat Station claims Apple is working with Samsung on a custom micro-curved OLED display for its 20th anniversary iPhone. The company is considering an equal-depth quad-curved panel display<\/b>, distinct from the \u201cwaterfall\u201d edges seen on some Samsung Galaxy models like the Galaxy S22 Ultra. <\/p>\n
Beyond the gentler curve, Apple is also aiming to adopt Samsung\u2019s latest OLED technology, known as Colour Filter on Encapsulation (CoE)<\/b>. Unlike conventional designs where the colour filter sits above the panel, CoE integrates it directly into the OLED\u2019s protective encapsulation layer.<\/p>\n
This approach offers several advantages. By reducing the overall display stack, COE can produce thinner panels<\/b> that allow more light to pass through, resulting in improved brightness<\/b> and<\/b> better power efficiency<\/b>.
