Xbox Game Pass prices drop, but there\u2019s a catch for Call of Duty fans<\/b><\/p>\n
Microsoft has just shaken up its Xbox Game Pass subscription again, but this time, it\u2019s not another price hike. Instead, it\u2019s doing the opposite \u2013 lowering prices across key tiers while reworking what you actually get for that money.<\/p>\n
But overall, it\u2019s great news. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate<\/b> for Singapore is now priced at S$21.90 per month<\/b>, down from S$29.99, while PC Game Pass<\/b> drops to S$13.90<\/b> from US$16.90. Xbox Game Pass Premium and Essential are now priced S$14.99 and S$10.99 per month respectively. It does seems like Microsoft is trying to make Game Pass feel a bit more approachable again after a rough couple of years of increases.<\/p>\n

Future titles in the franchise will no longer launch on Game Pass on day one. Instead, they\u2019ll only arrive roughly a year after release, and during the following holiday period. Existing Call of Duty games already in the library aren\u2019t affected, but this is still a notable step back from Microsoft\u2019s earlier strategy of using big day-one releases to drive subscriptions.<\/p>\n If anything, this feels like Microsoft correcting course. Game Pass had steadily crept up in price over the past couple of years, with the Ultimate tier hitting S$30\/mth at the end of 2025, which of course didn\u2019t sit well with a lot of players. Internally, the new Xbox leadership has already acknowledged that the service had become too expensive, and this latest move looks like a direct response to that feedback. <\/p>\n The broader strategy shift is also worth noting. Microsoft appears to be moving away from using blockbuster titles like Call of Duty as immediate subscription bait, likely because of the costs involved. And I suspect a big reason for that is that they can focus more on day one sales.<\/p>\n For now, Game Pass still offers access to hundreds of games, cloud streaming, and online multiplayer under the Ultimate tier, so the core proposition hasn\u2019t really changed. But the definition of \u201cvalue\u201d is clearly being adjusted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
