He called it his \u201cworst Grab experience of all\u201d.<\/p>\n
Stomper Ivan<\/strong> initially thought his Grab driver was not wearing any pants \u2014 and things got even worse when the driver started driving.<\/p>\n \u201cThe ride was like a roller coaster,\u201d said Ivan, who had booked the ride from Jalan Tukang in Jurong to Bukit Panjang in the early morning of April 12.<\/p>\n The trip started off badly when he was almost charged a late fee because the driver did not go to the correct pickup point, according to Ivan, whose trip started at 4.53am. <\/p>\n \u201cWhile boarding the car, at first glance, I thought the driver looked like he was not wearing any pants,\u201d recounted the Stomper. \u201cI was shocked.\u201d<\/p>\n He then realised the driver was wearing shorts. \u201cImagine if you were a female passenger \u2014 you would surely be uncomfortable,\u201d said Ivan.<\/p>\n The Grab drivers\u2019 guide<\/a> asks that drivers make sure they are in \u201cproper dress code at all times\u201d, such as shoes and long trousers.<\/p>\n However, Ivan soon became more concerned about the driver\u2019s driving. The passenger claimed the driver did not slow down when going over speed humps.<\/p>\n \u201cThroughout the entire journey, I was like flying,\u201d said the Stomper. \u201cImagine if I had just finished a heavy meal. I would have definitely thrown up everything.<\/p>\n \u201cI do not know why he was in a hurry. Imagine if there was a cyclist or pedestrian and he did not reduce his speed in time \u2014 an accident would surely happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Ivan also alleged the driver used one hand to steer \u201cmost of the time\u201d, with the other hand on his lap.<\/p>\n After he wrote a complaint to Grab on April 13, the ride-hailing platform replied the next day and apologised for \u201cany distress caused by the reported reckless driving behaviour\u201d.<\/p>\n The email added: \u201cImmediate action has been taken to address this matter, and the driver in question has been issued a warning, along with a recorded strike on their record within our system.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to a Stomp query, a Grab spokesperson said the company takes reports of unsafe driving very seriously.<\/p>\n \u201cWe investigated and issued a stern warning to the driver, who has expressed that he is truly sorry for the passenger\u2019s distress and is committed to improving his driving and professional standards.\u201d added the spokesperson.<\/p>\n Ivan told Stomp that ride-hailing platforms should address the issue of what drivers are wearing.<\/p>\n \u201cBe professional a bit,\u201d he said. \u201cI once saw a driver from another platform driving in his singlet.\u201d<\/p>\n Have something to say?
