Instead of relying on passive safeguards, the PSU uses built-in sensors to keep tabs on connector temperatures in real time. If the monitor detects, say, a loose cable or abnormal load, it can step in by reducing power delivery to the GPU, rather than cutting power to the entire system. The idea here is to avoid a full shutdown, giving users a chance to save their work before dealing with the issue.

The new PSUs also come with Cybenetics ETA Platinum (Ed’s note: if that looks like a typo, I didn’t spell it that way) certification, while still maintaining 80 Plus Gold efficiency ratings. With regards to noise, Gigabyte is also claiming a Lambda A+ certification, with average noise levels kept below 20dB(A). There’s also a 135mm fluid dynamic bearing fan with a semi-passive mode that stops spinning under lighter loads.

Last but not least, Gigabyte is trying to tackle user error with a dual-colour 12V-2×6 cable design, making it easier to tell if the connector is properly seated. They aren’t the first to come up with this, but it’s certainly their first. Three different versions (750W, 850W and 1000W) are available, with each model sporting Gigabyte’s “ICE” white variant as well, and they all come with a 10-year warranty.

If you’re on the lookout for a PSU designed with both performance and a bit more peace of mind in mind, Gigabyte’s Gaming Series seems like a good option to consider too.

Gigabyte Gaming Series PSUs’ availability and where to buy

The new Gigabyte Gaming Series are available in 750W, 850W, and 1000W capacities. The series comes in both Black and Ice editions, and are for sale at Techyard.

Gigabyte has rolled out a new range of power supply units under its Gaming Series banner, and this one feels like it’s arriving at a…

[32
21190,705,10534,7733,21189,8062
post-46802","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech-gadgets-reviews","tag-12v2x6","tag-gaming","tag-gigabyte","tag-monitoring","tag-psus","tag-thermal","wpcat-32-id
["GET
