The annual BAFTA Games Awards, the last of the Big Five ceremonies of the gaming awards season, revealed its winners on Friday, April 17, with a ceremony in London. Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33<\/em> walked away with another Game of the Year win, earning BAFTA’s Best Game award. This is only the second time a game has won all Big Five game awards; the other was Baldur’s Gate 3<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Clair Obscure: Expedition 33<\/em> won a total of three awards at the BAFTA Games Awards, including Best Debut and Performer in a Leading Role, which went to Maelle actor Jennifer English.<\/p>\nGoing into the ceremony, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 <\/em>had led the field with 12 nominations, including no less than four in the acting categories. Dispatch<\/em> had nine nominations, Ghost of Y\u014dtei <\/em>had eight, Death Stranding 2<\/em> had seven, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle<\/em> got six nods.<\/p>\nWith the announcement of the BAFTA winners, the awards season for games released in 2025 (or late 2024, in the case of Indiana Jones<\/em>) will have finally wrapped up. Clair Obscur<\/em> has been the runaway favorite all through the race, cementing its status with a record nine wins, including Game of the Year, at The Game Awards in December.<\/p>\nThe only tension in the later stages of the race was around whether BAFTA would go the same way. The British academy sometimes goes against the grain with its GOTY picks; in 2018, it ended The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em>‘s run by choosing What Remains of Edith Finch<\/em>, and at the 2023 ceremony it went with Vampire <\/em>Survivors<\/em> after every other major awards show had given Elden Ring <\/em>the top prize.<\/p>\nHere’s the full list of BAFTA Games Awards nominees and the winners so far, highlighted in bold:<\/p>\n
