Open-back designs aren’t that common in gaming headsets, which makes this one a bit more interesting than usual.

Instead of sealing you off, the H6 Air keeps its earcups open, which in theory gives you a wider and more natural soundstage. Sony says the new headphone isn’t about having “punchy and in-your-face audio” and more about recreating how a game is actually meant to sound as intended by game creators. By reducing internal reflections, the headset is supposed to deliver a more accurate sense of space, which could make a difference in games where positioning and environmental audio matter.

The H6 Air is using custom drivers derived from Sony’s MDR-MV1 studio headphones, with built-in back ducts to help with bass response. So you still get that low-end presence, but without it bleeding too much into the mids. At least, that’s the idea. For games with a lot of layered sound design, that separation should come through a bit clearer.

Crafted with premium aluminium, the H6 Air is also Sony’s lightest Inzone headset so far. It uses the same spring hinge headband design as the H9 II, so it should sit a bit more comfortably over longer sessions – in theory anyway.

There’s also some software tuning going on here. Sony worked with PlayStation Studios sound designers to build an RPG/Adventure EQ profile, which you can access through the Inzone Hub when connected via its USB-C Audio Box. That also unlocks virtual 7.1-channel surround sound and 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming

Sony hasn’t shared local pricing yet, but the Inzone H6 Air is expected to arrive in Singapore in May 2026.

Sony’s gaming sub-brand Inzone is bringing its first open-back headset, the H6 Air, to Singapore.
