The studio made the announcement in a brief blog post and said the removals coincide with the end of its relationship with Square Enix, the publisher of PowerWash Simulator.

Anyone who owns the Midgar and Tomb Raider DLC packs will still be able to play them after they’ve been delisted on May 19. Both add-ons are free to claim on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Midgar DLC lets you hose down a Scorpion Sentinel, a Shinra Hauler, and Cloud’s Daytona Hauler motorbike. There’s also a filthy Airbuster to wash, and Tifa’s Seventh Heaven bar is in desperate need of a clean. The Tomb Raider pack sets you loose on Lara Croft’s estate, spritzing the exterior of the Croft Manor, cleaning her boat, and getting their artifact display rooms nice and tidy. Basically you’re being an unpaid butler, but in a relaxing way.

PowerWash Simulator originally came to life as part of Square Enix’s Collective program, a publishing label that sought out promising indie developers and gave them a visibility boost, among other forms of help. “End of their relationship with Square Enix” might sound dramatic, but independent publishing was always FuturLab’s goal.

“We had a really good relationship with them; it was very collaborative,” FuturLab CEO Kirsty Rigden told GamesIndustry.biz earlier in 2026. “They let us lead a lot on marketing. We did a lot of the work ourselves, because we knew the game better, and they amplified it and helped where necessary… They were great, but ultimately we wanted to move into self-publishing as our long-term strategy.”

The game’s success helped FuturLab realize its goal. FuturLab published PowerWash Simulator 2 itself, thanks in part to lessons learned while working with Square Enix Collective and also to the first game’s unexpected popularity. PowerWash Simulator 2 launched in October 2025 and was nominated for two BAFTA awards — one for best family game and one for best British game.

Developer FuturLab is removing PowerWash Simulator‘s Final Fantasy 7- and Tomb Raider-themed add-ons in May.
