Apple managed to grow its Mac shipments in Q1 2026<\/b> despite worsening macroeconomic conditions and the ongoing memory shortage crisis.<\/p>\n

According to IDC\u2019s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, Apple\u2019s Mac shipments rose 9.1% year-over-year (YoY)<\/b>, well ahead of the global PC market\u2019s modest 2.5% growth. The strong performance was likely driven by demand for the MacBook Air (M4) and MacBook Pro (M5) models. <\/p>\n

Across the broader market, Lenovo maintained its lead with a 25.2% share, followed by HP (18.5%), Dell (15.7%), Apple (9.5%), and ASUS (7.2%). In fact, ASUS\u2019 result is worth pointing out because it grew its shipment by a whopping 17.1%<\/b>. It shipped 4.8 million units this year \u2013 0.7 million more than last year.<\/p>\n

IDC attributed the overall market growth to a mix of factors, including anticipated component price increases, ongoing Windows 10 migration cycles, and a wave of new product launches.<\/p>\n

However, sustaining the momentum may be difficult. IDC expects the next three quarters to be more challenging<\/b>, as vendors grapple with rising memory prices and potential supply chain disruptions that could impact both pricing and availability.<\/p>\n

Apple looks relatively well-positioned to navigate these headwinds. Its silicon advantage and tight control over the supply chain could provide a level of resilience that many competitors lack. <\/p>\n

The recently announced MacBook Neo is also said to have attracted a wave of first-time Mac buyers, signalling Apple\u2019s ability to expand its user base even in a challenging market. In fact, ASUS\u2019s co-CEO reportedly described Apple\u2019s strategy with the MacBook Neo as \u201ca shock to the entire industry\u201d. Together, these factors could help Apple sustain its momentum, even as broader market conditions become increasingly uncertain.<\/p>\n
