\nSingapore plans to equip at least 10,000 students over the next five years with skills in physical AI, a rapidly growing frontier where artificial intelligence is embedded into robots, drones, and autonomous machines rather than confined to screens.\t<\/span><\/p>\n

Backed by the National Robotics Program (NRP) and scheduled to roll out from mid-2026, the initiative will span all education levels, from primary schools to universities in collaboration with LionsBot, a Singapore-founded robotics company specializing in autonomous cleaning solutions.<\/p>\n

According to the NRP’s official LinkedIn account, the program will offer students early exposure to the full lifecycle of physical AI systems.<\/p>\n

From research and design to manufacturing and global deployment, students will shift beyond basic coding to tackle real-world challenges through hackathons and industry-linked projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

The educational push comes as industry experts highlight the need for the next generation of robots to go beyond executing fixed instructions. Future machines must be able to independently sense, reason, and act.<\/p>\n

Mohan Rajesh Elara, co-founder of LionsBot, noted that today\u2019s robots are still heavily constrained by pre-programmed rules and lack situational awareness.<\/p>\n

He explained that current machines may fail to distinguish between objects and people in critical situations, underscoring the need to equip robots with “common sense” to better interpret their surroundings, as reported by Channel News Asia<\/em>.<\/p>\n

LionsBot, which has deployed more than 5,000 robots across 30 countries, is working to embed this capability into its systems. The ultimate goal is to enable robots to understand complex environments and respond intelligently, such as recognizing emergencies and taking appropriate action.<\/p>\n

To support the national initiative, LionsBot aims to engage the 10,000 targeted students through hands-on learning, industry immersion, and collaborative robot-building projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
