A 250kg World War II aerial bomb was found at Changi East construction site for the future Changi Airport Terminal 5 in the early hours of Tuesday (March 31).<\/p>\n

The Changi East is part of Changi Airport’s expansion project, including the future Terminal 5.<\/p>\n

The police said they were informed of the discovery on Tanah Merah Coast Road at 4.55am.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) explosive ordnance disposal team will dispose of the bomb on-site on between 2.30am and 4.30am on Thursday, after assessing that it was unsafe to move it.<\/p>\n

The disposal will be contained within the construction site and areas accessible to the public will not be affected, according to the police.<\/p>\n

“Loud sounds can be expected during the controlled disposal of the war relic,\u201d said the police. \u201cThe public is advised not to be alarmed and to avoid the area.”<\/p>\n

The public may contact Changi Neighbourhood Police Centre at 1800-587-2999<\/a> for further enquires.<\/p>\n

The unexploded bomb is said to be the heaviest found in Singapore in recent times.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 100kg bomb<\/a> discovered at a condominium construction site in Upper Bukit Timah Road in September 2023 triggered the largest evacuation involving a World War II relic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In March 2019, a 50kg bomb<\/a> was found around the former site of popular nightclub Zouk at Jiak Kim Street.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
