7. Conclusion<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/section>\nOPPO Find N6 review<\/h2>\n The OPPO Find N6 launched with massive international fanfare, and even some HWZ Forum members were roped in get an early look of the bookstyle foldable before it officially went to retail.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s easy to see why OPPO was so excited to announce its premium handset. Besides the typical upgrades like a bigger 6,000mAh<\/b> silicon-carbon battery and latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5<\/b> processor, it has also managed to reduce the crease\u2019s look and feel to nearly nothing, while improving folding fundamentals like its hinge and IP ratings against dust.<\/p>\n
This is on top of adding a new multitasking feature, Free Flow Window<\/b>, and boosting its Hasselblad rear cameras to 200MP+50MP+50MP across main, ultrawide, and telephoto shooters.<\/p>\n
The downside? It\u2019s S$200 more than its predecessor, which is a huge ask in an uncertain climate marked by a memory shortage and the knock-on effects of rising prices. Surely there must be a reason why OPPO is so confident of the Find N6\u2019s sticker price before promotions and discounts.<\/p>\n
Is S$2,699 (512GB) too high a price if its biggest change is a less visible crease? What other sleeper upgrades are on this foldable? We find out below.<\/p>\n
Design improvements to break limits<\/h2>\n At first glance, the OPPO Find N6 seems like just another slim bookstyle foldable, but the little details become clear the moment you hold it in your hand.<\/p>\n\n8.93mm when folded.<\/p>\n

Part of why its weight (225g) and size (4.21mm unfolded, 8.93mm folded) feel impressive is because it comes close to the dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold7 (215g, 4.2mm unfolded, 8.9mm folded). <\/p>\n
Without a phone case attached, the OPPO Find N6 feels smooth and light for a foldable. It\u2019s also right-sized when gripped, even if we aren\u2019t a fan of rounded corners or massive camera blocks. The latter is also a handling perk, because its camera ring helps the phone sit steady when it\u2019s face-up on a desk.<\/p>\n
Having already been through a whole HWZ event, a hands-on walkthrough at its international launch, and weeks of testing, it was easy to see why its 8.12-inch Main Screen became our preferred way to use the device. <\/p>\n\n8.12-inch Main Screen.<\/p>\n

Its \u201czero-feel\u201d crease isn\u2019t just talk; when browsing in apps or watching streamed content, it wasn’t visible even when you tilted the display. <\/p>\n\nTilted for your viewing pleasure.<\/p>\n

You can barely feel its indent when running a finger across the seam, too, and it\u2019s only properly seen if you power off the display with overhead lights striking the panel at the right angles. The near-creaseless look was reason enough for us to prefer the larger panel whenever we had the opportunity to unfold it, while the 6.62-inch cover screen was relegated to texting, emails, and other on-the-go activities like checking a booking or appointment.<\/p>\n

The cover screen is noticeably brighter when using the foldable under direct sunlight, while the larger Main Screen struggles a little (as seen in these product photos taken in strong, sunny weather). Usually, a foldable maker would barely find the resources, expertise, materials, or time to refine a handful of physical parts to make these devices less flawed. In the Find N6\u2019s case, OPPO:<\/p>\n
\nAdded the Find X9 Pro\u2019s Snap Key <\/li>\n Tweaked the volume button placement for better handling<\/li>\n Upgraded the hinge\u2019s construction (details here)<\/li>\n Ramped up the cover screen\u2019s puncture resistance by 20% <\/li>\n Heightened its IP-rated dust resistance (now IP56+IP58+IP59, up from IP48)<\/li>\n Drastically increased peak brightness of its cover screen (3,600 nits vs previous 2,000 nits)<\/li>\n Gave minor improvements, like a lighter rear glass and higher-strength aluminum body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nOPPO Find N6.<\/p>\n

All these refinements had to play second fiddle to its headlining \u201czero-feel crease\u201d and bar-type handling quality, since those changes are more apparent in a device that historically struggled to stay crease-free and portable. <\/p>\n\nOPPO Find N6, upright.<\/p>\n

Together, it\u2019s undoubtedly OPPO\u2019s most physically improved bookstyle so far, even if its previous foldable was already remarkable.<\/p>\n
Software gets the same fine-touch treatment<\/h2>\n\nOPPO Find N6, unfolded.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Besides having OPPO AI and Google Gemini built-in, much of OPPO Find N6\u2019s multitasking and day-to-day use draws on previously successful implementations in ColorOS 16, such as\u00a0Boundless View<\/b>\u00a0(three full-sized apps, with one of them slightly hidden to the side). <\/p>\n
What\u2019s added is for power users who can\u2019t get enough of multitasking, which we think is quite an overkill. OPPO calls it Free Flow Window<\/b>. It lets you open up to four apps, each in your preferred layout or size. <\/p>\n\nUsing three Free Flow Window apps with one full-sized app in the back.<\/p>\n

In our trials, it can take up to three big apps and one floating app window, or vice versa (seen above). The learning curve is minimal once you find the three-dot menu above each app, and you will quickly have a preferred layout. <\/p>\n
Our favoured feature is a four-finger pinch on a full-screen app to turn it into a floating window.<\/b> It lets us get out of messaging apps without losing track of a fast-moving group chat, while we watch something better on the full-sized main screen.<\/p>\n
The multitasking overkill comes when another four-finger pinch outwards<\/b> to get Free Flow Window with Boundless View<\/b>. Three of your apps enter Boundless View mode, while the fourth hovers like a ghost as a Free Flow Window. Pinch inwards, and it reverts to Free Flow Window for all four apps.<\/p>\n
We recognise that Find N6\u2019s multiple multitasking features feel congruent with a logical gesture flow, but it\u2019s hard to imagine a user seeing this and running out of their house to buy the device. It\u2019s likely that they will prefer either Free Flow Window or Boundless View and stick with it as their main multitasking style, since combining both requires added gestures to get these apps to behave.<\/p>\n\nOPPO AI Pen (foreground).<\/p>\n

Regrettably, OPPO did not provide its separately sold<\/b> battery-powered stylus, OPPO AI Pen<\/b>, for a longer review period. However, our experience with the accessory at pop-up demos and device briefings left us convinced that it would satisfy users who need a stylus for their phone. <\/p>\n
Among its AI features, we enjoyed AI Chart the most because charts are among the most time-consuming assets to make, and it\u2019s handy to have them formatted in a single stroke on your smartphone.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re actually glad OPPO didn\u2019t try to overengineer its ColorOS 16 software and user interface, because it\u2019s really easy to fall into a trap of adding things nobody needs. Perhaps a neater way to use Free Flow Window and Boundless View would improve its intuitive navigation, and OPPO can also explore more ways to use the screens across different folding styles for future iterations.<\/p>\n
