Apple has officially pulled the plug on the Mac Pro<\/b>. The company confirmed to 9to5Mac that the desktop powerhouse has been discontinued, with no plans for a successor<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The move doesn\u2019t come as a surprise. The last refresh arrived in June 2023, when Apple introduced an M2 Ultra-powered Mac Pro to replace the long-running Intel-based model from 2019. <\/p>\n

With the Mac Pro now out of the picture, the Mac Studio<\/b> is set to take over as Apple\u2019s top-tier desktop<\/b> for power users. Apple updated the Mac Studio last year with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips, along with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, delivering performance that already rivalled \u2013 and in some cases surpassed \u2013 the Mac Pro in a more compact form factor.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the Mac Pro didn\u2019t offer much over the Mac Studio that would make it compelling. Like the Mac Studio, the Mac Pro didn\u2019t feature user-upgradeable memory. Sure, it had more Thunderbolt ports, but really, the only thing it had over the Mac Studio was PCIe expansion slots<\/b>. Clearly, this wasn\u2019t something that many users needed.<\/p>\n

Now, the current Mac lineup looks clearer and more streamlined, and is built around the efficiency and scalability of Apple Silicon. <\/p>\n
