With HyperSpeed Wireless being a staple of the company’s products for the past couple of years, promised improvements with its second generation include shorter click and motion latency at a polling rate of 8000Hz – 0.204ms and 0.36ms, respectively. Battery life is also improved, at up to 180 hours of battery life at a 1000Hz polling rate.

These are upgrades even compared to the DeathAdder V4 Pro (read our review of that here), which was the first of Razer’s mice to feature HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2. The mean click latency is also half that of HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-1.

Other spec bumps include the new Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3. It’s a mouthful of a name, but as it suggests, it ups the maximum DPI to 50K, up from the 35K of the Viper V3 Pro (though we’re not sure how many people were already hitting that DPI to begin with). Winning features of the previous sensor, including 1-dpi adjustment increments and asymmetric lift-off and landing distances, can also be found, all done through Razer Synapse.

Mouse clicks are also bolstered with Gen-4 Optical Mouse Switches, with an increased lifecycle of 100 million clicks, up from the Viper V3 Pro’s 90 million. In between those switches is also a new Optical Scroll Wheel, which Razer says is 3.3 times more reliable than mechanical scroll wheel designs.

The shell of the Viper V4 Pro is exactly the same as its predecessor, save for some weight reduction.

Image: Razer.

The Viper V4 Pro also sees a reduction in weight. At 49g (50g for the White colourway), it’s a 9 percent decrease from its predecessor. Given the 54g weight of the V3 Pro, it’s impressive that Razer still found places to slash some mass – mostly in the shell and in the PCB – though in absolute terms, the 5g reduction may not be so noticeable in real life.

Finally, the shape of the V4 Pro’s shell remains unchanged. At 127.1 x 63.9 x 39.9mm (LxWxH), it’s the exact same measurements as the Viper V3 Pro, putting its size on the medium side. In our review of the V3 Pro, we found that palm and claw grips were comfortable, though your mileage will obviously vary depending on the size of your hand.

The Gigantus V2 Pro gives you five speed options

The new Gigantus V2 Pro comes in five sizes, from precise to fast, depending on your speed and glide preferences.

Image: Razer.

Alongside the Viper V4 Pro, Razer also released its Gigantus V2 Pro mousemat. What’s different from the Gigantus V2 is the five speed ratings it comes in, enabling some variety for different gaming use cases:

Max Control

Control

Balance

Speed

Max Speed

As the names suggest, the mousemats are tuned based on a spectrum of precision to fast swipes. In terms of quality-of-life features, the Gigantus V2 Pro comes with low-profile stitched edges, and the usual anti-slip base.

One caveat though; it only comes in a Large (500 x 480mm) size. For reference, the original Gigantus V2 came in four sizes, from Medium to 3XL. The price for being pro, we guess.

Availability and Pricing

The Viper V4 Pro is available now for S$239, in both Black and White colourways, on Razer’s website and its physical RazerStores. As for the Gigantus V2 Pro, it’ll cost S$79 for all five speed ratings, though the Max Speed variant will only be available at a later date. You can also find it on Razer’s online store, or in its physical stores.

On the back of its successful Viper V3 Pro mouse, Razer has announced its successor, the (you guessed it) Viper V4 Pro.
