{"id":39527,"date":"2026-03-27T00:41:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T16:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=39527"},"modified":"2026-03-27T00:41:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T16:41:38","slug":"fairprice-apologises-after-staff-seen-handling-chicken-in-pork-section-at-sengkang-store-singapore-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=39527","title":{"rendered":"FairPrice apologises after staff seen handling chicken in pork section at Sengkang store, Singapore News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div xmlns:default=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n<p>Supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice has apologised for causing \u201cconcern and discomfort\u201d to customers after a viral social media post showed supermarket staff handling chicken that was labelled as halal in the pork section.<\/p>\n<p>In an Instagram post by Sgfollowsall on Wednesday (March 25), a user said that the incident at the Anchorvale Village store in Sengkang was \u201cdeeply troubling\u201d when there are \u201cmany Muslim customers who rely on proper halal handling practices\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went down to NTUC and spoke to the supervisor, who acknowledged that it was a mistake and assured me they would look into the matter,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background-color:#FFF;border-radius:3px;border-width:0;box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15);margin:1px;max-width:540px;min-width:326px;padding:0;width:calc(100% - 2px)\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DWTZPK3mPRT\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The post has since garnered over 600 comments.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post on the same day, FairPrice clarified that the chicken was not put up for sale in the halal section.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dNevertheless, we have ceased this practice with immediate effect across all stores,\u201d the supermarket chain said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recognise that this has caused concern and discomfort and we sincerely apologise.
